A fire broke out in Berlin’s Grunewald Forest, which was apparently triggered by an unintentional explosion at the police training site. A major challenge is a drought and the 50 tons of ammunition stored there at the blast site.

According to the fire department, no one was injured in the explosion. The fire burned an area of around 1.5 hectares (15,000 square meters) approximately as of now. As a precaution, 120 emergency services including firefighting helicopters and special forces from the Bundeswehr are on site. Because of the fire, the important railway track between berlin and Potsdam near the area of operation is also interrupted. A buffer of 1km is created around the fire as a safety precaution.
